Major Redevelopment of Macquarie University Oval

On Thursday 24th November the NSW Government announced its latest round of grant awards in the Multi-Sport Community Facility Fund 2022-23. AFL NSW/ACT in partnership with Macquarie University, Redlands School and Macquarie University Australian Football Club were successful in their application for a grant to redevelop Uni Oval.

With a $5,000,000 contribution from the grant, the project will upgrade the existing changing amenities at University Oval in Macquarie Park to ensure they are appropriate for women’s community sport at all levels, and able to host elite female AFL matches. Works will include the installation of improved change areas, playing surface improvements, upgraded lighting to allow for AFLW night matches, community areas, match day amenities and media and broadcast facilities.

This is fantastic news for the club, and for footy in the area more broadly. This project was of high priority to AFL NSW/ACT and is extremely positive news to have the application approved. We as a club are grateful for the support of the AFL and the University that they could see the benefits of the development of our home ground. Having high quality, accessible facilities is a key pillar of the club’s growth plans for a sustainable future and we are excited to have a new home! Watch this space for further updates, but in the meantime here are some conceptual drawings (subject to change) of the finished facility.
